SUSTAINABILITY IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM

___________

The Significance of Traveling for Good

Sustainable travel is essential as transportation is a major polluter. Therefore, how you travel and who you partner with matters. Consequently, we promote sustainability by collaborating with hotels, tourism boards, tour operators, and cruise lines. However, it starts with us curating top-tier experiences and seeking out travel industry leaders because it affects us all.

Beware of the Green Sheen

It’s a deceptive marketing tactic that uses green PR and green marketing to mislead the public into believing an organization’s products, goals, or policies are environmentally friendly. Consequently, true sustainable travel requires significant investment, making it unsurprising that questionable claims of eco-friendliness are rampant. Therefore, “People really need to do their own research, and we can certainly help reveal the truth.” Moreover, even official-looking sustainability stamps offer limited assurances, so rigorous B Corp Certification, which measures both social and environmental impacts, remains the gold standard for now.

Eco-vacation Packages

Travel products marketed as sustainable often come with a higher price tag compared to mainstream options. Although 76% of travelers express a desire to travel more sustainably, 57% are unwilling to pay extra for it. Nevertheless, there are cost-effective ways to travel sustainably. For instance, staying longer in one place rather than hopping from spot to spot allows for deeper engagement with local communities. Consequently, this approach helps build up local economies, immerse in the culture, and support the people rather than merely visiting and leaving.

Tips to fully understand what sustainability travel and tourism journey entails.

Researching wildlife experiences is crucial to ensure ethical animal interactions. Undoubtedly, by choosing ethical animal experiences, you support industry leaders who treat animals with care, allowing you to enjoy meaningful encounters without missing out. Impotantly, travel sustains communities and can help reduce global poverty, but this potential is lost when profits are taken away. Reverse this trend by spending locally: purchase souvenirs from local artisans, hire native tour guides, and dine at locally owned restaurants. Along with, Hotels also play a significant role—they should have a strong sense of place and honor the host culture. Consider how well the property integrates with the ecosystem: does it feature local artworks? How deeply is the local culture and economy embedded in the hotel?

Sustain Communities

Explore the world while doing your part to travel responsibly. Imagine slowly heading upstream on the Amazon River in Brazil by boat. In fact, for over a decade, we have been sending discerning and responsible travelers on extraordinary adventures, pioneering experiential travel on the world’s most iconic waterways in some of the most remote and exotic destinations imaginable.

Integrated Hotels

Meet the team that makes it all possible and feel inspired when you return. During our visit to the Maldives Island and atolls, one Resort stood out from the rest. For example, I was impressed by how deeply the mission was ingrained in the team. We toured their on-island recycling plant, where we witnessed the sorting of materials and their reuse to create accessories for the overwater bungalows.

Industry Leaders

Achieving your travel goals and sharing your stories about the world’s beauty will inspire others to do the same. Currently, Greenland is a coveted destination for avid travelers, a step beyond the well-trodden paths, appealing to those who have already explored many of the world’s iconic locations. Experience the awe of glaciers up close, and hearing the sounds of icebergs breaking apart.
